Why Bone Broth Is My Favorite Natural Winter Remedy

This time of year, I talk a lot about bone broth with my patients. Winter is the time to nourish the kidneys, and in Chinese medicine the kidneys govern the bones. Bone broth is a great way to warm and nourish your body’s blood and qi (also known as vital energy in our bodies). It is tremendously nutrient dense which makes it beneficial in prevention of injuries, and strongly aids in healing of bones and connective tissue. Among the nutrients it provides, it is rich in collagen, which means it’s also great for skin and for healing digestive irregularities. Have it as a snack between meals, or in place of an afternoon coffee.
